Reliability, Adaptability, Complete solutions, Cost Effective and Robust are key words and have brought Eltomatic's encoders and ancillary equipment to the forefront in the fuel dispensing and petrochemical industries.

Eltomatic's quality system is certified according to ISO 9001:2000. Since July 1st 2003, the European Directive 94/9/EC, also known as ATEX 95, has been mandatory. This directive is known as the “Manufacturing Directive” and is the legal regulation for equipment and protection systems for specified use in areas with an explosion hazard. ATEX 95 stands for Atmosphère Explosibles and Article 95 of the EC treaty. All Eltomatic shaft encoders are approved according to one or in some cases two ATEX protection categories.

These categories are

  • (d) flameproof
  • (i) intrinsic
  • (mb) encapsulation
  • (ma) combined intrinsic and encapsulation.

Encoders with (i) approval and encoders with dual (i) and (ma) approval combined with a suitable Zener Barrier can be used in zone 0, 1 and 2 applications. Encoders with (d) and (mb) approval are suitable for zone 1 and 2 applications. Some shaft encoder versions also have UL approval. Our shaft encoders have metrological approval by the W&M, (Weights and Measures) authorities in most countries.
